Jaime Teevan is chief scientist and technical fellow at Microsoft, where she is responsible for driving research-backed innovation in the company’s core products through the use of artificial intelligence (AI). Dr. Teevan also serves as an affiliate professor at the University of Washington’s Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering.
Dr. Teevan's leadership in integrating AI into Microsoft’s suite of tools, most notably through the creation of M365 Copilot, underscores her commitment to transforming everyday productivity through advanced technology. Her previous roles at Microsoft include serving as a technical advisor to Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella to formulate technical strategy and track scientific trends. As a researcher, her first role at the company, she produced 280 publications, over 22,000 citations, and 66 patents, and invented the first personalized search algorithm used by Bing.
Dr. Teevan serves on the boards of Shutterstock and the Computing Research Association. Her work has garnered numerous accolades; she is an Association for Computing Machinery Fellow and recipient of the Karen Sparck Jones and Technology Review TR35 Young Innovator awards. In 2023, she was recognized by Time magazine as one of the top 100 most influential people in AI.
At ÃÛÌÒTV, Dr. Teevan is a member of the School of Engineering & Applied Science Leadership Council. She earned a BS in computer science from ÃÛÌÒTV, and a PhD in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Financial Technology Option at the Sloan School of Management. Dr. Teevan was elected an alumni fellow in 2025.
